For this test, the purpose was to developpe rooms under the ground, and connecting with surrounded building's cellars. Since I am in New York, Im always looking to the sky because of the height of the buildings and skyscrapers. So this test suggest not to deal with heights but to the undergrounds...go down instead of the obsession of going higher. So people can feel to go down at different levels. The "roofs" of the boxes of the project are still accessible, and can create a landscape, an earth move, or an "sidewalk move", inside the alley. Maybe it is to go down for more feelings the narrowness and the heit of the alley. -> claustrophobia ??
no research of the program for now.

I wonder how the structure would influence surrounding buildings by going underground... and also going underground might result in neglecting site itself. (site = surrounding building)
ReplyDeleteok, when it comes to diagrams, they need to be ruthlessly fast. and you test out a lot of ideas really quickly.
ReplyDeleteThe point is not to make a theory just yet, but rather schematically run through some organizational schemes and compare them. as you do that, you will begin to develop interesting criteria.
so its through this sketch-like diagrammatic process that the more precise architectural ideas emerge
this one is good. but it is one of twenty. i'll send a couple of sketches and then i'll have you fill them out with massing studies
